AJS & MATCHLESS 1945-1956 RIGID AND SPRING-FRAME SINGLE CYLINDER WORKSHOP AND PARTS MANUALS FOR THE 350cc & 500cc MODELS 16 - 18 - G3 & G80

VP Book ID: 20200
Pages: 156
Dimensions: 6.625" x 10.25"
Description: 156 pages with more than 50 illustrations, diagrams and charts, size 6.625 x 10.250 inches. This manual covers the 1945 to 1956 rigid and spring-frame AJS 16 and 18 and Matchless G3 and G80 350cc and 500cc singles.
As most of the details that differentiate the AJS and Matchless models are minor and predominantly aesthetic and, in order to eliminate unnecessary duplication, we have only included reprints of the original AMC '1955 Matchless Single Cylinder Workshop Manual' and the '1955 AJS Single Cylinder Illustrated Parts Manual'. PLEASE NOTE: The 1956 publications of these same factory manuals no longer include any data applicable to the rigid frame models. In addition, while these are faithful reproductions of the original manuals, they have been increased in size by almost 25% in order to make them significantly more readable.
In 1945 when AMC resumed production of their civilian line of single-cylinder machines, all models within the series were available with both rigid and spring-frame options. These two options continued to be available up to the 1956 model year at which time the rigid-frame models were discontinued. However, as most of the spring-frame models and newer variants of the 16, 18, G3 and G80 series remained in production through 1966, this manual will also be of use to owners of any model year of the entire 1945 to 1966 production run of the spring-frame 16, 18, G3 and G80 models. However, the reason this manual has an end date of 1956 is due to the fact that the factory ultimately issued a combination workshop manual that covered all of the 1957 and later singles and twin-cylinder machines. Unfortunately, as this later manual is inclusive of 'all models' the data is, of necessity, somewhat fragmented and not as focused as the earlier model specific manuals. However, owners of the 1957 and later 350cc and 500cc Heavyweight Singles will also find the 1957 factory manual (ISBN 9781588502582) to be of use.
VelocePress.com has been publishing reprints of motorcycle and automobile manuals since 2003 and our publications have earned excellent reviews worldwide so you can be assured you are purchasing a quality product. We encourage you to exercise caution when purchasing a manual for your motorcycle or automobile as many of the reprints found on internet websites are from 'bedroom sellers' at enticingly low prices by individuals that really have no idea what they are selling. Many are nothing more than poor quality comb-bound or ring-bound photocopies that are scanned and printed complete with greasy pages and thumbprints and, as such, are deceptively described as 'pre-owned', 'used' or even 'refurbished'. In addition, they are often advertised for the incorrect series and/or model years.
